And so the quest begins..

A couple of years ago, I would have told you that I'm not a beer drinker.  Didn't really care for the stuff, tried some things that I didn't like.  Drank them too fast, got sick.  Drank them too slow, got sour.  Beer just wasn't my thing.

But then came the epiphany moment, when you take a sip and you realize that the beer isn't half bad..!  I had that moment and I also found that I could tolerate beers better than I used to.  I even started to appreciate the fact that it wasn't a sweet beverage like Mountain Dew.

So I found out that I was interested in beer.  But it doesn't stop there, no no.  I would look down the aisles in the grocery store and see the different types.  The allure of the various brands and varieties.  I wanted to try them all.  I'd go to Barnes & Noble and look at the books.  1000 beers to try before you die.  That's nice, but I wasn't going to be able to try them all.  But the idea of 1000 different beers sounded appealing.  Even better, why not 5000?  Why should I stop at all?  So thus, this blog was created to capture my journey as I try different brews and get my initial thoughts on many.

For the discerning beer critic, you'll quickly realize that I'm still developing my palate.  I can't describe beer as well as others.  In some cases, I'll say I liked it or I didn't, not have much else to offer.  My expectation is for my critiques to get better through time, and it'll be interesting to look back on old posts and see how my palate matures.

The first few posts will be to get the beers I've tried and chronicled out there and onto the list.  Eventually, I'll catch up to myself in real time and go from there.  Mass commercial beers are probably a cheap way for me to pad my stats, but I'll throw them in there anyway.  After all, a beer is a beer.  I've long gone away from the heavyweight beer producers and have found myself more interested in the craft beer movement, so my reviews will be very skewed in that direction.

Anyway, less ranting, more drinking.  Salud!
